The blind man sits patiently waiting for someone to come and help him. Maybe people will give him food or coins so that he can take care of himself. But today everything is different. Jesus is walking by so the man calls out in desperation, “Jesus have pity on me!” Even when everyone tells him to be quiet he doesn’t give up. Jesus stops and tells them to call him. They say “Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.” He tells Jesus, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus tells him that his faith has saved him. Immediately he is able to see. Jesus may be walking by you today. Will you be asking him to have pity on you? Will you continue to ask for his help? Today’s story shows that we need to have courage to get up and go to him. Bartimaeus even throws down his cloak because nothing will get in the way of his being healed.

The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” 
Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.” 

If you were in the story, would you be the blind man sitting by the side of the road or the people who tell him to be quiet or the ones who say take courage and get up? We all live in the middle of someone’s story. They need healing and our help.

We pray today that Jesus will call us and we will have the courage to go and be healed or help someone else to get to Jesus, too. We are the blind leading the blind. We are in this together. Take faith and run with it!
