Giving Christ to the World – One Smile at a Time

Scripture Focus for July 2 R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. Ps89:2a Are you righteous? Are you welcoming Jesus? “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me…And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because the little one is a disciple—amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.” – Jesus (Mt 10:37-42) Giving and Receiving Christ     The only real oneness possible [is] Christ in us….In Holy Communion, millions of small hosts are given to millions of people; this does not mean Christ is divided into millions, but that the millions are made one in Christ. {Caryll met a woman during a Mass where there were no Communion hosts to receive. A ragged woman told her to come and a priest would divide her reserved host for them both. Caryll went. She gave Christ to me, Christ’s Passion to the world.]    At first sight, suffering seems broken up, unfairly divided. All is Well

Give me a drink. 4 simple words that changed a woman’s life forever. The woman from Samaria, not a Jewish place, receives a gift from Jesus. Not only does he meet her at the well at midday, he speaks to her, reads her heart and gives her the prescription she needs for healing. Forgiveness and a new start. It’s not too late. She seems to have given up when Jesus meets her at the well and offers life-giving water. Not water just for today but forever. She recognizes that he is a prophet. Jesus explains that he is the Messiah that she has heard about. The encounter with Christ changes her life and she goes back to town and tells everyone. She even leaves her water jar! She brings others to Christ. We may have fallen short but Jesus continues to meet us right where we are. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. We hope to say, just like the Samaritans, We no longer believe in him because of your word, we have heard for ourselves and we know this is truly the savior of the world. They have met him. Where will he meet you? Readings for March 24 John 4:5-42

The dove of peace I hold in my hands… Today, on the Feast of the Mother of God and the World Day of Peace, Fr. Browning read the first Eucharistic Prayer as I knelt during Mass.  In it, he said, “he took it in his holy and venerable hands.”  Jesus blessed and broke the bread.  Jesus took the bread in […]
