Reflection from October 3 at Saint of the Day Franciscan Media: God’s work gets done by people ready to take risks and to work hard—always remembering what Saint Paul told the Corinthians, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth.” Every holy person has a strong sense of God’s Providence.

In gratitude again for all that you do whether you are a Catechist in a classroom or not. In faith and trust as we plant seeds, God will cause the growth! I hope the Saints inspire you! We are all Catechists giving a witness and a reason for our hope.

Our faith calls us to remember those who have gone before us on All Souls Day and All Saints Day. We celebrate by ‘dressing up’ as Saints and having a parade in class and at Church. Halloween is literally ‘all hallows eve’ or the evening before the Holy Day. Investigating the lives of the Saints can help us to see that they struggled just like us, but they still became Saints!

This year’s Catechetical Theme from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is from 1 Peter 3:15. “Always be ready to give an explanation…a reason for your hope.” Our faith formation mission this year is to learn, pray and do!

Pace e bene, Donna (peace and all good in Italian – the way St. Francis of Assisi signed his letters!)
