Are you troubled?

R./ If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Ps95:8

 Jesus the Healer

Jesus encounters a person in need and troubled. The man calls out to Jesus. Jesus orders the spirit to be quiet and drives the unclean spirit out of the man. This was an indication of Jesus’ power over evil. There were many kinds of healers in first-century Palestine. Jesus appears to be like them, but he heals with unique authority and connects his healing activities with the words of his preaching. Jesus shows us that he is healing in his words and in his actions. Jesus’ fame spread!

Think about a few famous people you know. What are they famous for? It is power or influence? Do they do something unique?

Jesus showed power and authority in his words and deeds. Those who follow Jesus are also called to demonstrate God’s power and authority by their words and actions. Do you know people who show their faith in God through what they say and do? We want to be like them. We want to follow Jesus’ example.—Find more info for activities and discussion at Sunday Connection by Loyola Press.
