Is your burden heavy?

R. I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God. cf. Ps145:1

Are you righteous?

Are you welcoming Jesus?

“Come to me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” – Jesus (Mt 10:37-42)

Shout for joy! The king and savior will proclaim peace to the nations—from sea to sea (Zechariah 9:9-10). St. Paul reminds the Romans that the Spirit of God is within us. We should live in the Spirit! How are you living today? With the example of Christ in mind? In Matthew Chapter 11, we hear Jesus speaking the words above. Rest. Be at peace. Following the will of God may be a struggle or even difficult but with the yoke of Christ, we are free to be guided on the right path. We know what to do. Jesus tells us that the yoke he gives us is easy and His burden is light. The yoke is a wooden device that enables two oxen to pull a plow or cart. A carpenter would carve or mold it so that it fit just right. If the yoke didn’t fit properly, it would chafe and create sores and strife for the animals. It would be hard to do their ’job.’ Keep in mind that we might need a friend to help us just like the oxen! So don’t go it alone if you need help! Have you heard the phrase, God never gives you more than you can handle? God will give you the strength and grace you need, right when you need it. We walk by faith. We trust in God. Are you struggling or even fighting the will of God? Say the Our Father any time you feel burdened this week. Focus on the phrase Give us this day our daily bread. We remember that when the Israelites were wandering in the desert, God provided the food and water they needed—just enough for that day. God is faithful. Jesus said that His burden is light!
